Let the Judging Begin!!!

It's Fair Time......Let the Judging Begin!!!
Good Morning.....busy, busy, busy......today's the day.....I go around town and collect my artwork so I can enter it into the Elko County Fair.....I can not believe that someone asked me this question!!!!......
."Do professional artists enter fairs?".....YES!!!!!, I have entered the fair every year for the last 15 years. I am just as excited to do so today as I was the first time I ever let the public see my first painting. I paint for the love of creating, the love of expressing myself, because I think Artist have a responsibility to paint the world around them., and because I can't not create!! There is nothing like the feeling when the doors open and you look around to find where they have hung your artwork and see a ribbon!!! It's thrilling!!!! Never a guarantee people will like your style, understand your work, and respond with great appreciation.....I love that I'm some what anonymous because I like to stand back and listen to the comments people make about the artwork....I love the fair. This is where I experiment, explore and send out  my new styles, techniques and listen to the critiques.

Yes I do the fair. I encourage everyone to do the fair.
I know most of you will not get to the fair to see my artwork, so here's a sneak peak...
Here are my enters

It's just a rumor I heard

Yesterday, today and tomorrow
Life is curved, acrylic, 4' x 4'

Yesterday is only a dream, tucked away in the recess's of your mind. Tomorrow only a vision, a hope and dream. The question for today is "What will you do today, while you live and breathe and are alive to make your tomorrows happier, wiser and stronger?

Will you sit and wait for the world, your world to change? Or will you have the courage to take a small step to change yourself for your world or the larger world?

The answer of course is yours alone. But, it reminds me of a quote I remember, "If you always do the same things you have always done, then  you will always get the same answer you have always gotten". It's something like that, and I'm sorry I don't remember who said that or if I'm quoting it correctly, but still it is something that has always stayed with me.
Today, really is the best life you have....it's the present life....the one that you are reaping the benefits of yesterdays decisions and planning for  the future. All things rely I what you do NOW, TODAY.
Heart's Desires, acrylic 4' x 4' Jean Hart Artwork
Heart's desires, they come from within, from without. Idea's are acted upon and plans are made.
Opportunities!!! Do they really only come knocking on your door once?
I THINK NOT!!!!
I think that's just a rumor.....for the people who don't meet their dreams half way...

The Art of Living....is hard work

The Art of Living.....is hard work.....
Moral Compass, acrylic,
I have started a new book, "The Art of Living" The Classical Manual on Virtue, Happiness, and Effectiveness, By Sharon Lebell
"Happiness and freedom begin with a clear understanding of one principle: Some things are within our control, and some things are not. It is only after you have faced up to this fundamental rule and learned to distinguish between what you can and can't control that inner tranquility and outer effectiveness become possible." The Stoic philosopher Epictetus was born on the eastern edges of the Roman Empire in A.D. 55, but The Art of Living is still perfectly suited for any contemporary self-help or recovery program. To prove the point, this modern interpretation by Sharon Lebell casts the teachings in up-to-date language, with phrases like "power broker" and "casual sex" popping up intermittently. But the core is still the same: Epictetus keeps the focus on progress over perfection, on accomplishing what can be accomplished and abandoning unproductive worry over what cannot. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.
I'm sure that if I went back into my childhood I will recognize the lessons that are in this book. But, as I am getting older and life has pulled some punches my opinions that were so strong when I was younger seem to be blending into a softer line. Not everything I see or hear can be so black and white. I no longer see good or bad, or even if your not with me than your against me attitude. Age has soften me. I'm not as judgemental and think mostly that somethings I read in the news, well, frankly, are just not my business!!!!
I painted the painting above before I even know that maybe my "morale compass" may have turned a degree or two.
I'm seeking the good life, the easy life, one where I do not suffer so hard with choices I make.
No Shame, No Blame.
I will post lessons I've learned or not learned. But right from the beginning the book quotes the Serenity Prayer.
Something to think about,
