Risk....Risk? Hummm, RISK!!!
Yes, that's what my new paintings feel like to me.
I am now willing to risk breaking out of what was so comfortable for me as an artists. This new intuituve painting style, it feels risky and yet it is so freeing. There is no real way to do it,so there is no mistakes. Although my analitical mind keeps going back to what is balance, color scheme and storyline. So, there you have it, each piece of artwork will always have that for me. I can not break free on some of the lessons I have learned in art education.
But I am willing to loss all restraints and break free of set limitations if not whole rules. These paintings have something of an emotional risk too. They say color provokes emotions and in front of me I have an array of paint,  no less then 30 paint tubes and yet I find mysefl just drawn to the red, yellow, oranges.
A friend of mine ; Jeff Stroud, who is an amazing photographer, you can meet him at his blog,  http://jeffstroud.wordpress.com/   left a comment on this painting for me, he said,
"thought I would share this! Orange is a power color. It is one of the healing colors. It is said to increase the craving for food. It also stimulates enthusiasm and creativity. Orange means vitality with endurance. People who like orange ar...e usually thoughtful and sincere. Lady luck's color is orange. I have been told that if a change of any kind is need in life, just burn an orange candle for 7 nights.

Orange Energy

While red is associated with fiery heat, orange is associated with the benign warmth of the sun. A dynamic color to be sure, orange offers a more thoughtful control than explosive red. Curiosity is a driving characteristic of orange, and with it comes exploration of new things.
Put some orange in your life when you want:
to spice things up when you feel time is dragging
to become more involved in something
to increase creativity
relief from things becoming too serious"
Thank You Jeff, that was so right on with the way I've been feeling.
So here is what I have to say about Risk. Risk being embarrassemet, vulnerabile, and risk it all on yourself. In doing so, what just might happen is that you become more alive, more empowered, more creative. Moving forward only happens when you are ready to risk something so personal that to not risk means you have lost........

Journal Writing.....

Writing in a journal has helped me so much.

I started it a year ago and I will share with you the best and only question I ask myself each day.
What Does Present Day Jean have to do today to make Future Jean Happy?
That's it......and then the answer becomes my to do list for the day.
Here is my journal

 Transcend,
flying high and higher without limits. raiseing yourself above all the expectations of the world and the limits you put onto yourself. Stop thinking your the one who has to hold it all together and just transcend above and rise above the shallow thinking.  Look inside yourself, see what's there. Intuituve painting has done just that for me. Looking into the images and pulling out what connects me to self, to the universe. How does one become fully who you were born to be? My guess is to explore, feel, look, listen and ask.
This is my first painting in the "Intuitive" style. I like it and found that as I painted new images came to me each day

Emerge: Yellow and Red Painting Series
Acrylic 16" x 24"
 Emerge: Yellow and Red Painting

Post Card Mail Art
Theme, Today and Tomorrow
Acrylic, 16" x 24"
Original artwork by
Jean Hart
This painting is a work in in progress, but before I complete it, I have spent time with it. Abstract art is difficult. It's difficult for me to just leave it alone and let it emerge on its own.

... But I may just say its done simply because the more I look at it the more images sneak through!!!

Images come out of the shadows and come into their own space. It's as if those images step out to say, "I have left behind your judgement of me, and have left behind my shells of protection and I am born again to the truth of the cracks in my armor."
But I know I will not leave this painting like this......I will add the circles and butterfly and let it emerge like a radiant transformation into a new world. Coming out of my past of Today and emerge into my future Tomorrow.....

May the month of Spring

Tuxedo and lady bug in Spring

May.....Spring....Flowers.....life returns....

The month of May was named after the goddess Maia, Maria, the goddess of spring, she who brings forth life. It is also the month of the Virgin Mary, Mother of God.
Full moon: May 6.
Universal event: Flowers coming forth.
Communal event: This is the month when you clean and declutteer and organize.
Healing properties: be careful, this month is high on fevers and infections.
Color: Hazel, pink
Tree: Hawthorne
Flower: Lily
Creature: Magpie, dove
Gem: Emerald

Full Moon on May 6, I'm planning a picnic and walk on the Labyrinth in my home town. It's a good time to be thankful and grateful.

May Day

May Day is still celebrated in many parts of the world. The Irish especially love this folk festival. They decorate trees and bushes and hold dances out doors to welcome the beginning of the summer. On relics in Assyria, we see ribbons fastened to the Tree of Life.

Here is a fun site that explains all about this festival and the traditions.

Transformation, Health Journal

Transformation, health journal
all journeys begin with the first step
For those of you who have just joined me on this journey it may appear that my accomplishments are small and trivial, but to those who know the difficulty of getting back on your feet after injuries will understand my excitement when I say I'm back on my feet.
A back injury changed my life, knee surgery kept me off my feet, heart failure slowed me down,  a pinched nerve made everything hard to do. The journey's not over yet, I'm at level 12 of a 24 level recovery program. However, each day gets better and I am preparing to start a walking program.
The accomplishments sometimes are so small I don't even know how much better I'm doing. Like wearing sandals instead of slippers, not being on ice every hour, bending, walking, and just plain having more energy. I can now drive myself around and shop alone. I painted my own toes. Everything will come back, but it takes time. You can't rush it. Every time I think I'm stronger and do too much it sets me back a little. So, I'm learning my limits and being patient.
Many thanks to all of you who have e-mailed me with your own stories of recovery and encouragement. My heart goes out to you and many blessing for your strength and courage.

~Jean
