Happy New Year!!
It's new years resolution time......I have to laugh as I look at last years list and find some of the same resolutions on this years list!!! I have to ask, "I am so bad that I have to change my whole self each year!!!"
I think not! So this meditation today is to say to me and to all of you "Stop!! You are enough just the way you are."
In the quietness of time and space sit peacefully and breathe in deeply and realize you are enough. you have done enough, shared enough, loved enough, helped enough. Just being you has touched thousands of people, I'm sure that you have been grateful enough, thankful enough and inspired enough. It seems each year we begin with diets to reshape our bodies, some do this for health, some do this for happiness, some just for vanity. Whatever your reason do it for the love of your body.
Lets begin;
  • Imagine as you say to yourself, "I am enough. I am  loved, I allow my body to take its own shape and I love the shape of my body."
  • Begin at the top of your crown, move your head, massage it. love your hair. Touch in and say, "I am enough, I love my hair just the way it is.
  • Blink your eyes, massage your eyelids and eyebrows, open and close them. say"I am enough, I love my eyes just the way they are."
  • Touch your ears, massages them both at the same time, "I am enough, I love my ears for all that they hear"
  • Rub the tip of your nose, breath in and out slowly, say "I am enough, I love the shape and size of my nose"
  • Trace your lips and form a kiss,say "I am enough, I love my lips and mouth"
Continue down the rest of your body, find something wonderful to be thankful for with each part of your body.
Saying the whole time "I am enought, I love......"
Using affirmation as you breathe in and exhale.
Know that you are enough, you are perfect, you are just the way you should be.
When you are done with your whole body, bless it, thank it for working perfectly, make a promise to be kinder to yourself by honoring its beauty and hard work.

Meditation Creations

With the holidays here we are so busy that often we forget to take time for ourselves and breath.
Today's Meditation Creation is called
"Water Mediation"

Fill the bath with warm water, you can add bath salt, bubbles or essential oils to the water, anything that will calm you.
Playing soft music is good to.
Breath in to the count of 4,
Hold your breath to the count of 5, and Reflect
Exhale to the count of 6

Breath in saying" Water feels.."
Reflect on this..
Exhale..saying,  "Water is refreshing and warm"

Breath in saying, "Water is healing"
Reflect on this...
Exhale out saying  "Water is soothing."

Breath in saying, "Water is cleansing"
Reflect on this...
Exhale out saying  "I honor this time to cleanse and calm down."

Breath in saying " Water is relaxing."

Exhale out..saying,  "Thank you for water"

Now just lay back, listen to the music and enjoy this quiet time for yourself.

Happy Pink Saturday

Happy Pink Saturday for the Holiday's

While scouting the stores in my little town, what did I spy but a pink Christmas tree, I stepped into the store and there it did stand, all glistening and shinny just saying come in.

I looked all around and I saw what I wanted, a little pink book to write all my gratitude's in.
Placed on the table with candle and card, I started to write out my list and Thank You for life.

With so many events celebrating Christmas. The first one I went to was the Christmas Tree Festival. Look at this tree, all decked out in pink, I know that this one was the best of the event.

On to the Creche, where there was over 100 Nativity's Displayed. How beautiful this was fill with the Christmas Spirit.
Merry Christmas to all and a Happy New Year.

Jax has left the Tower

I'm letting go. I saw Tangled the 3D movie, Awesome, but it got me to thinking that its time to let the kittens go.  Jax has left the "Tower". I have had this little kitten since it was born in the Spring. I thought that maybe he should be an inside cat, but truly he needs to go out and explore the world. It is the right thing to do and I pray that I don't loose him. He is part of the world so I have let him go free to have a snow adventure.
Here is how I came to have kitten:
I wanted a cat for my studio and my husband said "no, we have two cats." So I brought each one into the studio and asked them if they would like to stay here and be my "studio cat." Each one looked around and promptly left for the outside world. So than I said I want a "kitten" and will get one in spring when kittens are born. Again, Kerry said "no!" Well not more than two days later a small beautiful gray and white cat shows up in my garage, and she's pregnant!!! I brought her into my studio, two days later she had five kittens so not only do I have a studio cat but studio Kittens. Isn't the Universe wonderful????
The mommy cat we named Gabby, and we kept two of her kitten. Jax and Sassy. Slowly they are learning about the outside world.

Christmas Cookies, you better be good!!!

My Chinese cookie said I was stuck in a Chinese bakery!! I'm thinking that there are worst places to be then in a bakery.
My Blood Sugar number for today was 106. Not too bad. But the holidays are here and baking is something I love to do. I found this recipe on diabeticlivingonline. I think this will satisfy both my need to bake and not get my to far off track.

Peanut Butter Cookies Diabetic Recipe
 There is no flour in this cookie. A good thing.
servings: 36 cookies
Carb Grams per serving: 7
Calories 66
Total Fat 4g
Saturated Fat 2g
Cholesterol 6mg
Sodium 35mg
Total Sugar 6g
Protein 2g

Diabetic Exchanges
Other Carbohydrates .5
Fat .5

1 cup sugar
1 cup peanut butter
1 egg

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.F. Grease cookie sheets and set aside. In a medium bowl, stir together the 1 cup sugar, and peanut butter, and egg until well mixed. Using your hands, roll peanut butter mixture into 1 inch balls/ place 2 inches apart on prepared cookie sheets. Flatten each ball slightly with a drinking glass that has been lightly greased and dipped in sugar. Lightly grease a small star-shaped cookie cutter; dip in sugar. Press into the center of each cookie.
2. Bake about 9 minutes or until edges are set and bottoms are lightly browned. Makes 36 cookies.

I love the holiday season. I hope you have had a chance to participate in some of the holiday events. I went to the Christmas Creche Exhibit in Elko this year. It was beautiful and so fully of the Christmas Spirit. There were hundreds of Nativity Displays, A Live Christmas Nativity Re-enactment plus Music from our own talented community choirs and special guest "Heartbound" performing.

I would like to Thank all of you who have helped to make 2010 a great and inspired year for Jean Hart Artworks. I could not have continued without all of you who have inspired me.

I belong to an artist group and this year we are putting a Christmas Wreath together with our artwork for a donation at the Community Festival of Trees event.
The wreath will go on display and be auctioned off. The money is used for Charities in our community.
We each were given a 2 1/2" x 2 1/2 canvas to paint on and a matching easel. I think they turned out wonderful.

It's Friday, It's finally Friday, Black Friday!!!

Meditation Creation,
Now that Thanksgiving is over, we are officially on to the Holiday Season. It's a stressful time for everyone. I am creating meditation tapes to use to get through the holidays. Come along with me and join in the fun.
Today, I will be outlining 6 steps to Relaxation and Let Go.
When I make my tapes I add music to enhance the technique.

6 Steps to Relax and Let Go

It is always best to sit in a quit room if you can. Get comfortable in a chair with your feet flat on the floor and your eyes closed. I have in the past done this laying down, but I usually fall asleep.
  1. I have a mantra I say, but you may choose a word of your own to focus on. Pick one that is simple, one syllable, and easy for you to remember.
  2. Sit upright in a comfortable position, your hands can rest in your lap facing up or down. The important thing is to be comfortable.
  3. Take a few deep breaths to relax. count 6 breaths in, hold 7, exhale 8. Do this 3 times.
  4. Now just breath in normally. Repeat your word silently on your exhale.
  5. Your mind will continue to bring thoughts to you, that's OK, just don't let them distract you. Let them come to you, and then let them move on with each exhale.
  6. Continue for 20min. I find it easier if I set a timer before I start. This way I can relax and enjoy my meditation without the worry of time. Stay quiet with your eyes closed. After 20min, awake slowly and easily come back. Do 3 more deep breaths.
Now you are ready to shop, cook, decorate, and simply enjoy the holiday season.
If you can do this twice a day that would be great.

Does anyone where Aprons anymore???

Does anyone wear apron anymore?
Sarah gave me this wonderful apron for my birthday.....I wear it when ever I cook.
Then it reminded me I've been wanting an apron for a long time.

I was at a rummage sale last summer and came across a box of old patterns. There in the box with the envelope turning yellow and torn was a pattern for an apron.

I don't think I have worn an apron since I was a kid learning to cook with my mom in the kitchen.

I did have to make an apron once in Home Eco. class. It was my first sewing project as well!! I believe it turned out fine and wore it all through class that year.

Well it was an unexpected find and yes I did buy it and plan on making myself an apron.

I will be wearing it a lot since I have once again taken up cooking.
Thanksgiving is nearing and I will probably bring it out and wear it while making all the festive foods.

Snow day Sunday

Yep, looks like I'm gonna need a cupcake today.
Snow Day!!
This is what I woke up to today. Snow!! I live in Northeastern Nevada and we do get snow, but really this is too early.
Luckily I just bought my snow boots last week when I was in Twin Falls shopping.
Today is my husbands birthday, and I wont tell you his age but lets say he is now distinguished.
I'm planning on making a birthday cake today and taking him out to dinner.
It's a pretty quiet day, and it's the last race of NASCAR today. Sad for him but happy for me. NASCAR lasts sooooo long. I like Carl Edwards and Kerry like Jr. so we root for different drivers.
I'm going to head to the studio and do some artwork. I'm planning on making "Under The Mistletoe" into a christmas card.

It must be the time of the year. Everything I'm reading right now has something to do with Gratitude. So I'm not going to fight it, after all isn't that what Thanksgiving is all about? Being Thankful.
It takes 21 days to break a bad habit.
It takes 21 days to make a new habit.
So what do you think would happen if you took 21 days and filled a gratitude journal with all that you are grateful for and all that you love?:
Well I'm about to fink out and I invite you to do the same.
I just bought a wonderful pink journal to start my Gratitude Journal writing in.
I also went out and got a card for myself. I'm going to write an encouraging letter to myself and Send it in the Mail to me too!!!

This is my Card of Encouragement, It says, "Keep going! You can do it!, I know you have what it takes to do this!"
Here are just a few things I have collected on the subject of Gratitude.
  • Every time you feel grateful for something in your life, and every time you say Thank You for something or someone in your life you are giving love. You are sending love to yourself, to the person and thing you are grateful for and to the Universe.
  • Be grateful for everything you have already received in your life. This lets you understand what you have already been given.
  • Be grateful for everything you are receiving in your life. As you read this you are being given many blessings now
  • Be grateful for what you want in your life, as though you have received it already. I think I mentioned I believe your thoughts create your reality.
  • The more you feel gratitude and the more you say Thank You, the more love you will receive in your life.
  • So make a commitment to take a little time for the next 21 days to write down what your grateful for. Then start looking for little ways your life has changed.
  • It doesn't matter how small things are, it all counts.
Good luck with this 21 day challenge. I'm looking forward to hearing how your life has changed.

What's Cooking for Thanks Giving

I took the day off yesterday because I was a little sick. But I'm feeling better today so on with the show.
Everyone is getting ready for Thanks Giving so I looked around and came up with this recipe for Pumpkin Pie Bites. I told you that I am learning to cook more healthy and this recipe comes from The Biggest Loser's chef Devin Alenander. I found it in the Diabetes Focus magazine.

Pumpkin Pie Bites

Agave nectar made from the Mexican agave plant is available at most supermarkets, but make sure to buy a brand that doesn't contain added high-fructose corn syrup.

Butter-flavored cooking spray
3/4 cups whole-grain, crunchy, low-sugar cereal like Kashi's whole-grain         nugget's.
2 Tbsp maple syrup
1/4 tsp ground cinnamon 8 egg whites
1 15oz can(1 3/4) cups) solid pumpkin puree
3/4 cup agave nectar
2 Tbsp whole wheat pastry four
2 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract
1/1/4 tsp pumpkin pie spice
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
  • Heat the oven to 350F. Coat an 11" x 7" glass or ceramic baking dish with cooking spray.
  • Finely grind cereal in a food processor. Transfer to a small mixing bowl and stir is syrup and cinnamon. Spoon into prepared baking dish: spread evenly across the bottom. Bake for 7 to 9 minutes, or until slightly browned.
  • Meanwhile, in a large mixing bowl, lightly beat egg whites until they bubble very slightly. Fold in pumpkin, agave nectar and flour until well-combined. Stir in vanilla, pie spice, baking powder and salt and continue mixing until well-combined. Pour into baked crust, spreading in an even layer with a spatula. Bake 40 to 45 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in center comes out almost clean. Cool on wire rack.
  • Cut 32 pumpkin "bites" (3 cuts along the width, 7 cuts along the length). Top each bite with 1 teaspoon whipped topping, if desired.
  •  Nutrition Per "Bite: 94 calories; trace fat, trace saturated fat, omg cholesterol, 102 mg sodium, 21g carbohydrates, 15g sugar, 2g fiber, 3 g protein.

Monday's Question

Monday's Question
Who are the secret people in your life?

The people in my life come from many places.

I find it interesting that once when I felt so alone and stayed to myself or so I thought , I actually had people thinking about me.
Just by accident I was shopping at a tiny coffee shop, I almost never go to, a very old acquaintance came up to me, really someone I have not seen in years and would not necessarily call a friend. Said " I have been thinking about you." She then gave me information about something I had been thinking of doing for years.
It is the universe workings its wonders on me again!
I took her advise and applied for the job, and got it.
Without any way of telling her or thanking her, like I said we were not close. She changed the direction of my life. And I have not seen her AGAIN!!
The job I am talking about is Substitute Teaching. I love it and can't for the life of me figure out what took me so long to apply.

Pink Saturday,

My daughter and I had Thursday off so we headed up to Twin Falls ID to shop and just have fun. Look what I find while shopping.

Meditation Creations,
 Since this is my first week, I will start off by introducing myself just a little.
I have practised Transcendental Meditation for 35 years. I do 20 minutes in the morning and 20 minutes in the evening. I will not be teaching you this technique simply because I am not professionally trained to do so. But, I will be sharing with you all the things I have read and participated in, in so far as meditation groups and energy healing groups and reading groups I have joined. I am a strong believer in your thoughts can and do shape your reality. I believe you make choices in your life and that life does not just happen to you. I believe if we can open our minds up the answers are within us and I believe there is enough joy, happiness, abundance for everyone.
I am extremely tactile and my home is very textured. I am surrounded by deep rich colors of the earth. My meditation colors are deep purples, forest greens and golds. My essential oils I use are Frankincense, jasmine, chamomile and patchouli. I will be talking and sharing all of this with you as we continue.
My hope is that we all come here and share together. I love hearing what others think and want to share.
For this week, I would like to simply start off by breathing. Most people don't breathe deep enough. I have learned through many classes that everything we do starts with proper breathing.
The easies way to do this and I love that you can do this all day long anytime you want.
Sit comfortable.
First, breathe in through your nose to the count of 5, ..1,2,3,4,5.
Hold your breath for the count of 6..1,2,3,4,5,6.
Exhale to the count of 8...1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8.
Do this 3 times, and all through the day.

I just finished reading a little something on this subject. I started a little book on the Secret of Power. Here is a quote from it, from William Jennings Bryan, “Destiny is no matter of chance. It is a matter of choice.”
At first that seems easy enough to understand, but if you say it again with intention you will feel something inside you that tells you, Yes that makes sense.
It goes on to say how life follows you, because what you choose is what you live. Life does not just happening to you.
 It all goes along with the thinking of "What you think is your reality.”
 I believe we do make our own realities. So again, here is another quote Be careful what you wish for, it might come true.”
 I have changed it to “Be careful what you think, It will come true.”
I am so excited about this, and today I will be making my meditation tapes that I will be sharing with you on FRIDAY, for Meditation Creations.

So even though I can't eat desserts I do like baking them. And with Thanksgiving coming up, who doesn't like to bake new items for the big entertaining coming up.
I have a new book I will be cooking from, next week. It's called , "Outsmart Diabetes" by Prevention. It has desserts too!!! So starting next week I will be sharing Diabetes recipes.

Pear and Apricot Tart

Serves 8
Hands-On Time: 20m
Total Time: 1hr 45m


* 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, at room temperature, plus more for the pan

* 1/2 cup raw almonds

* 1/2 cup plus 1 tablespoon sugar

* 1 large egg

* 1/2 teaspoon pure almond extract

* 1 cup all-purpose flour, spooned and leveled

* 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

* 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt

* 2 pears (such as Bosc or Bartlett)—peeled, quartered, and cored

* 1/2 cup dried apricots, halved

* 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

* 1/4 cup apricot preserves


1. Heat oven to 350° F. Butter a 9-inch removable-bottom fluted tart pan.

2. In a food processor, process the almonds and ½ cup of the sugar until finely ground. Add the butter, egg, and almond extract and process until smooth. Add the flour, baking powder, and salt and pulse a few times just to combine (the dough will be soft).

3. Spread the dough in the bottom of the prepared pan.

4. In a small bowl, toss the pears and apricots with the lemon juice and the remaining tablespoon of sugar. Arrange the pears in the dough. Scatter the apricots over the dough, pressing them in gently.

5. Bake until the pears are tender and the center is firm, 50 to 55 minutes (cover the edges with foil if they brown too quickly).

6. In a small bowl, combine the preserves and 1 tablespoon water. Brush over the warm tart. Let cool in the pan before unmolding.

New Artwork

Tuesday, New Artwork,

OK well I don't usually do this!!!!! But here we go. I have this idea and it goes like this. If I make a Haiku the painting will follow.
So I came up with a Haiku and Just started painting. This painting is a work in progress and has only had one session I'm still working on it, but I think that's the fun of doing artwork. It's interesting to watch artwork grow.

Rich Fudge Brownies

It's Wednesday "What's Cooking?"

:^) Good Morning,

I am sure I am the person Julia Child's was thinking about when she wrote her book for the "American Serventless Housewife". Here I am shopping, clean, and cooking all by myself.
I made these brownies to enter in the County Fair where I live, and they got 2nd place.

This recipe is so easy and without a box!! I found that because of where I live in high altitude and a different size pan, I had to do some adjustments of my own to the recipe. May I just say, "Really, is there anything more fun the WHISKING!"

The smell of chocolate wafting through the house is wonderful and festive.

The question in the house was "Wow, what's cooking?'
So there you have it, the brownies were easy, smooth, rich and satisfied my sweet chocolate craving. I bet the food critic gave this recipe 5 big stars.

Pastel Workshop

It's Tuesday,

In Oct. I went to St. George UT, and took a pastel workshop.
It was with Richard McDaniel,
It was a week long workshop, where we went to the Snow Canyon National Park, and did Plain Air painting in pastels. It was great, and I meet the most wonderful artist from all over the country.  Occasionally, I do landscapes and I am pleased with the work I did in Snow Canyon. I look forward to sharing these paintings with you on my blog site, "Express Yourself" which is now up and running.

Is it Vegetable Soup or Chicken Noodle Soup?

Good Morning...Since I have been back from my painting workshop in St. George I have been sick!!!   Here is a photo of the vegetables that my sister sent me. Is it vegetable soup or chicken noodle soup that cures :-)
Thanks for the well wishes and calls from everyone. I'm always surprised how fast the word gets out when someone is hurt.
I have been to the chiropractors office twice since my fall down the staircase :-(( but I'm doing much better now. Next week I will have a raindrop message to help with the sore muscles. Keeping with my HEALTH activities, which is surprisingly easier eating at great restaurants than eating in my home!! I am determined to learn to cook healthier meals and exercise each day now that I am back from all the fun trips I have been on.

What will you be for Halloween??

Happy Halloween!!
What will you be for Halloween?
It's always the next question asked after what kind of candy did you get? Something with chocolate I hope.
I have always dressed up. It was fun when my kids had school parties and back then we walked around the neighborhood.
Now my kids are grown and I still want to dress up.
So I think I will be a witch and go grocery shopping!!!
This year I went to a hunted house in Salt Lake City, 13th Street,
 It was a blast!!!!
I have to say that, that will be on my list of fun activities for next years Halloween adventures again.

I have committed to post something pink each Sat. in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness.
On my way to St. George Ut, last week, Vicky and I stopped to have lunch in Delta. In the parking lot, there were planted the most beautiful pink flowers.
