Walking the Labyrinth

First Prebsyterian Church of Twin Falls

Walking the Labyrinth
This week Kerry and I walked a Labyrinth in the First Presbyterian Church of Twin Falls.
This is one of the many things on my list I want to do this year. It is my goal to find and walk on as many Labyrinth's as I can. I am on a spiritual journey this year. Having almost died this year by heart failure after my knee surgery my body has been under internal stress. I say that I am rebuilding a body since each month some part of my body has shut down, spine, lungs, ears, eyes etc..... But each time I have been able to recover. I am told it's a two year process.
So as I continue with my health journey, my spiritual journey has become a strong yearning.

There is no right way to walk the labyrinth. You only have to enter and follow the path. Your walk can encompass a variety of attitudes. It may be joyous, thoughtful, prayerful or you may use it as a walking meditation.
Some general guidelines for your walk.:
Focus, pause and wait at the entrance. Become quiet and centered. Enter.
Experience: Walk purposeful. Observe the process. When you reach the center, stay there and focus for a few moments. Leave when it seems appropriate. Be attentive as you retrace the path in exiting.
Exit: Turn and face the entrance. Acknowledge the ending with a bow or an "Amen".
Reflect: After walking the labyrinth, reflect back on your experience. Some find journaling or drawing as a way to capture the experience.
Walk Often.
This was truly a pleasant experience. Kerry enjoyed the meditation as well and told me later that he would like to build a labyrinth in our yard around the olive tree we are planning to plant the summer.

Pink Saturday

Happy Pink Saturday!!
I was a little late getting this in.
Pedro from KRJC RADIO AND Jean Hart
I donated my painting "Women Within" to the breast cancer event we had in my town of Elko, Nv.
That's Pedro, who somehow got talked into wearing girls genes for the event (I'm pretty sure it was a bet he lost!)....
The event was to Raise money for breast cancer awareness and the cure. It was held at the Red Loin and had lots of booths and a Zumba marathon.....It was fun and I hope everyone here had a chance to come out of support the event.
Go to fullsize image  I have been in deep healing meditation. I twisted my knee and am now going to have a MRI on it and talk to the surgeons. So I will ask me friends here to send positive and healing thoughts my way........
Life can change in a heartbeat and you never know exactly what that change will bring. Years ago I hurt my back....that injury brought me to art. I can tell you honestly not before the accident did I think I would be painting, showing my artwork publicly or selling it!!!!
So life goes on and life changes and I hope life gives you just enough challenge to make it fun and exciting.
So If you can imagine a woman who is now expected to be challenged and blessed again by how she pulls herself together and handles the unexpected.....
Be strong, be brave, be inspired,

Healing Card, green stairs

Good Morning,
Do you remember when I got these beautiful healing cards for my birthday?
I thought that today I would share one with you.
This card is the "Wander where there is not path."
There's no time like the present to "get lost." Realize that a path has many expressions: exploring creativity, indulging intuition, pursuing a relationship. Choose one, and get lost on the pathless path today."
I suppose that is another way of saying let things take their natural course trying not to force results.
I'm going to the health fair today and plan on giving blood! Of course, that action seems at odds to this card that would have me perform an action empty of intention. So sad to say I am not that enlightened yet.
I would love to say that each morning, I meditate for 15-20 min, everyday, eat only the best and healthiest meals, and exercise to exhaustion, but that would be untrue. Those are my intentions. Those are the things I would do everyday if life ran on a perfect hour to each day.
When I first got these healing cards I thought I would pull one each day and do their task. But that seemed to be too much for each day so I try to do it once a week. Here is where I would tell anyone listening. There is so much to learn; exploring creativity, intuition, relationships, on and on it goes.
My feels know is try to set one or two intentions each day. Have patience with yourself and be kind.
So have a good day and I will see you on the pathless path someday.
What does a pathless path look like to you?
I'd love to hear how you felt about today's healing card.
Be safe, be healthy, be inspired,
~Jean

Friday Meditation

Friday Meditations
I have been using essential oils for about 3 years now. I love them and I like to use them when I meditate.
The way I learned to use them is simple, easy and fun.
I like things that have a ritual to them.
So when I use the oils I prepare a space and lay out the oils I have.
I close my eyes and let my hand float over the bottles until I feel drawn to pick one up.
Pure oils have special properties to them that will attract certain qualities. To use essential oils according to traditional associations and to help bring about their vibrations I follow a few rules.
1. First, I wash my hands so that the oils will have a clean surface to float and be absorbed into.
2. Once I have pick the oil I would like to use, I pour a drop into my left palm and with the tips of my right pointer finger I circle in a counter clockwise direction 3 times.
3. Next I rub my palms together and bring my palms to my nose and take a deep breath in. Repeat 3 times.
4. With the rest of the oil that remains on my palms I rub into my hair.
Now you are ready to start your day or go into meditation.
There are many ways to use the essential oils.
As perfumes, splashed into you bath or sent your pillows.
Just make sure you do not get them in your eyes.
Here are some of the oils I use and what their vibrational qualities are.
Cedar, Purification, Love, Money
Cinnamon, Attraction, Speed,
Frankincense, purification, luck, protection,
Frank & Myrrh, purification, protection, spirituality,
Gardenia, love, peace,
Ginger, Success, power,
Jasmine, Spiritual love,
Lavender, healing, peace, love,
Peppermint, healing, luck
Sandalwood, protection, purification, spirituality,
Sweetgrass, spiritual attraction
Ylang Ylang, opportunity, peace.
There are soooo many more. I have only just begun collecting all essential oils I want.
Relax and remember to have fun and enjoy this.
Be inspired,

What's on my Easel

What's on my easel?????
Tea with Rabbit
Since 2011 is the year of the Chinese Metal Rabbit, and I love Rabbits for lots of reasons.
They represent, fertility, abundance, new beginnings.
Rabbits have long been a subject for me to paint and embrace. I expect they will be lots of paintings this year with rabbits in them.
I am learning many lessons this year and top on the list is Stillness, Meditation, Being Calm...the list goes on and on. Often my paintings represent my own life and the lessons I myself are going through.
I welcome you on my journey.
Here is a poem to meditate on.
Totally Crazy
The deep blue sea
spoke to me;
it was holding back
a mystery.
A dolphin took me by the hand'
it wanted me to understand
that in this life
there's more to behold
than bags of money and pots of gold.
Believe in yourself
and you will see
how happy and free
you were meant to be.
By Mike Dooley

For me right now that says a lot.
What happens when you start to believe in yourself?
What happens when you start to put yourself out in the world?
What happens when you do want you want and follow your dreams?
I'm thinking what happens is that you become a better you. But this time around once you believe in yourself your also better for family, friends, and the world.
Just something to think about.

Meditation Creations

Meditation Creations

What does it feel like to be the words you speak?
Words are so important. So why not speak straight to yourself so that your heart may hear you.
Can you just imagine a woman who refuses to diminish her life so others will feel better!!
When you speak to yourself or others speak and act with you heart. If you dare to speak or act in a negative way, pain will follow. But if you speak pure and clear happiness follows.
Today try to be mindful of being positive in all you say and do. Know that each word and thought has power to create a world you want to live in.
I think it's really fun to look for and take on affirmations I believe in them and I use them daily. Try to find one that fits you.

Be inspired, be safe, be you.

Meditation Creations

Meditation Creation
January

It's a new year and new resolutions, but lets not be too hard on ourselves. January should really be the first month of the new year that we start by
 Self-Love.
You must love yourself before you can love another. I know you have heard this before.
So instead of a deep breathing exercise and mediation I think I will start will just a few ways you can love yourself a little more this year.

I don't mean loving yourself in a selfish and egotistical manner, but more with gentle kind acts of care and love.
Because I know you already know that you are worth this care, here are a few ways you can show it to yourself.

1. Play. Laugh. Have Fun.
Not everything has to be so serious....
2. Go outside, even if it's cold. The cold air will
refresh you and the sun will provide Vitamin D.
3. Eat well. I mean really like the foods that are good
for you. Thank them and be grateful that you live in
a place where you can have fresh vegetables,
fruits and clean water.
4. Sleep well. Rest when you can. People who get
less than 8 hrs of sleep are more prone to illness.
5 Exercise, You knew it was coming. Just 20 mins a
day of something you enjoy.
Enjoy January. What you do this month will set in motion what you will do all year.
Be inspired, be safe, be love,

Meditation Creations

Meditation Creations,
With the holidays here we are so busy that often we forget to take time for ourselves and breath.
Today's Meditation Creation is called
"Water Mediation"

Fill the bath with warm water, you can add bath salt, bubbles or essential oils to the water, anything that will calm you.
Playing soft music is good to.
Breath in to the count of 4,
Hold your breath to the count of 5, and Reflect
Exhale to the count of 6

Breath in saying" Water feels.."
Reflect on this..
Exhale..saying,  "Water is refreshing and warm"

Breath in saying, "Water is healing"
Reflect on this...
Exhale out saying  "Water is soothing."

Breath in saying, "Water is cleansing"
Reflect on this...
Exhale out saying  "I honor this time to cleanse and calm down."

Breath in saying " Water is relaxing."
Reflect on this...
Exhale out..saying,  "Thank you for water"

Now just lay back, listen to the music and enjoy this quiet time for yourself.
Smile at the gift you have just given to yourself.
Be inspired,
~Jean

Meditation Creations

It's Friday, It's finally Friday, Black Friday!!!

Meditation Creation,
Now that Thanksgiving is over, we are officially on to the Holiday Season. It's a stressful time for everyone. I am creating meditation tapes to use to get through the holidays. Come along with me and join in the fun.
Today, I will be outlining 6 steps to Relaxation and Let Go.
When I make my tapes I add music to enhance the technique.

6 Steps to Relax and Let Go

It is always best to sit in a quit room if you can. Get comfortable in a chair with your feet flat on the floor and your eyes closed. I have in the past done this laying down, but I usually fall asleep.
  1. I have a mantra I say, but you may choose a word of your own to focus on. Pick one that is simple, one syllable, and easy for you to remember.
  2. Sit upright in a comfortable position, your hands can rest in your lap facing up or down. The important thing is to be comfortable.
  3. Take a few deep breaths to relax. count 6 breaths in, hold 7, exhale 8. Do this 3 times.
  4. Now just breath in normally. Repeat your word silently on your exhale.
  5. Your mind will continue to bring thoughts to you, that's OK, just don't let them distract you. Let them come to you, and then let them move on with each exhale.
  6. Continue for 20min. I find it easier if I set a timer before I start. This way I can relax and enjoy my meditation without the worry of time. Stay quiet with your eyes closed. After 20min, awake slowly and easily come back. Do 3 more deep breaths.
Now you are ready to shop, cook, decorate, and simply enjoy the holiday season.
If you can do this twice a day that would be great.
Be inspired.

Chance, choice, fate or destiny?

Chance, choice, fate or destiny?
I just finished reading a little something on this subject. I started a little book on the Secret of Power. Here is a quote from it, from William Jennings Bryan, “Destiny is no matter of chance. It is a matter of choice.”
At first that seems easy enough to understand, but if you say it again with intention you will feel something inside you that tells you, Yes that makes sense.
It goes on to say how life follows you, because what you choose is what you live. Life does not just happening to you.
It all goes along with the thinking of "What you think is your reality.”
I believe we do make our own realities. So again, here is another quote Be careful what you wish for, it might come true.”
I have changed it to “Be careful what you think, It will come true.”
I am so excited about this, and today I will be making my meditation tapes that I will be sharing with you on FRIDAY, for Meditation Creations.
Be safe, be still and stay warm,

~Jean
