Happy Pink Sat.

HAPPY NEW YEARS!!!

It's almost here and I can hardly wait to pop to cork and bring in the New Year!!
So many blessing and exciting adventures to come....I can hardly sit still.
Whats on my New Years Resolution.....
1. More Adventures......More traveling....trips....eating new foods and talking to more strangers!!!
First page from my 2012 journal, named "Freedom; A New Way.

2. Freedom, Freedom is what I must want for this new year, physically, financially, mentally, spiritually and creatively......We are taught not to be selfish, vain and want things like money or success. This year will be all about that . Learning how to express and create a life that I want. Being selfish, vain, and successful will all be brought in and I will make decisions on each according to how they fit into my beliefs, my world, my truths and my judgements for better or worse. This is my life....no dress rehearsal....

3, In search of a word,
What a twisted mess one starts to weave when one starts to self analyze. To love others has to come from first loving yourself. My words often come back to me only to stir imagination and inspiration. If only someone were to talk to me like that!!! What would I accomplish? How far could my confidence and imagination take me? Self Talk, I see now how important that is. What affirmation should I repeat to myself.? What word would be so strong that it would carry me through doubt and disbelief, "I Am". Even for me that doesn't seem strong enough,. It doesn't define to me in terms of explanation of who I am. What word would push me through the hard times, give me bliss at the highs and hold me during the mundane days? I am in search of such a word.

Well that is it for starters on my new journey for the year 2012,
for all may you have happiness, health and prosperity,

Happy Pink Saturday!!

With all the parties of the season its hard to remember to eat well. It's hard not to eat those cookies, and homemade candies. But just try to remember that not everyday in the month of Dec. is a holiday. If you can manage to eat health whole foods most of the time and save the special foods and sugar goodies to a minimum you will not only feel better but maintain a over all healthy radiance to the holiday season.

Love Inspires

Love Inspires

Love Inspires
Acrylic
11" x 14"

Living a life of friendliness and love will help to inspire you to live a life of compassion, hope and joy.
Life is so much more meaningful when we share it with someone else. Often we sit and wait for what will come ahead only to finally get it!! Your future lies deep within yourself. It's way down deep where you keep your dreams. The true life is what happens when you decide its time to act upon those dreams and know, really understand that everything is up to you to make the future happen. And just like Abraham Lincoln said, "The best thing about the future is that it comes only one day at a time." So just take it one step at a time.

Recovery isn't a goal, but a process that continues each day. You are always repairing and renewing and regenerating yourself. Take yourself outside to absorb the light and shadow of each day. Touch Mother Earth and feel her warmth each day that you live. Don't keep your spirit stuck in yesterday as a new day begins. Prayer is process.

The Song of the Pearl

Happy Pink Saturday

The Song of the Pearl
An Ancient Gnostic Poem

The Song of the Pearl, "tells the story of the prince who wears a gorgeous jewel encrusted robe. One day his parents tell him that he must take off the magnificent robe and journey out from his homeland into an alien country where he will find a precious pearl guarded by a fierce dragon. He is instructed to tame the dragon and bring the Pearl back to the kingdom. In so doing he will be permitted to wear the robe again and share the sovereignty of the kingdom with his brother. The prince unquestioningly obeys the king and queen and well supplied with princely goodies sets off on his journey. On reaching his destination, he feels lonely and disoriented. He adopts the clothes and customs and language of the people and forgets who he is and why he is there. He falls into a sort of trance. Hearing of this, his parents write a letter reminding him of his regal heritage and his mission. They attach it to an eagle and dispatch the eagle to the prince. The eagle and the message awaken the prince from his trance. He hypnotizes the dragon with wondrous words and then, with the help of the eagle, he returns home, pearl in hand. He is warmly welcomed and delighted to gaze again on the glorious robe. He sees it reflecting the magnificence and unity of all creation. He covers himself with its splendour and joyfully takes his place beside his brother as crown Prince of the kingdom. "

An Ancient Gnostic Poem, The Hymn of the Robe of Glory, " The Song of the Pearl".

I'm still studying the myths and ancient stories, this is a story of the journey of human consciousness. Through the path of separateness, on towards the Divine journey home.
I present this to you to make your own interpretations and to see the wonderful symbols within this myth, it has survived the test of time in its perennial wisdom,
Please enjoy the story and the artwork.

Greek Mythology

Greek Mythology

2nd task of Psyche's Journey,

Psyche and Eros

Her second task, where she is ordered Aphrodite to collect golden fleece from lethally dangerous rams is full of symbolism relating to the sexual energies of the second chakra. This time her ally is the reed. Arising from its watery depths is symbolizes her intuitive feminine wisdom. Th reed tutors her in skills for dealing with the powerfully masculine energy of the rams. Exercising restraint and awareness she calmly gathers the golden fleece without arousing their fury. In transcending her primordial sexual energies she harvests gold." Gillan Ross, Psyche'sYearning,

Well in doing this task, I have chosen to buy yarn, (yes, should have sheared the rams and made my own yarn!) and make a prayer scarf. I picked out charms to spoke to me to put on the scarf as helps for angels and guides.

For the Love of a Good Cup of Coffee

When Did Coffee Get So Complicated??????????
It's a good idea to keep an open mind when you go to the coffee shop...or you will get confused with all the choices.
Sometimes ordering can get complicated....Espresso, latte, hot, iced, .........
I just want a hot cup of coffee...not a cafe breve, or expresso com panna for $5.00!!!!!
Better Together Mug, Jean Hart Artwork designer Mugs.
                                           http://www.zazzle.com/jeanhar1
Coffee Please.
Here's a little list I found that will help you decide what kind of coffee you want to order.
  • Express-rich coffee made by forcing water through finely ground, dark roasted coffee beans.
  • Latte- espresso with steamed milk
  • Cafe au lait-equal parts espresso and steamed mild
  • Mocha-latte with a little bit of chocolate
  • Cafe breve-espresso with steamed Half and Half
  • Espresso com panna-a serving of expresso topped with a dollop of sweetened whipped cream
  • Iced espresso- a double expresso poured over crusched ice
  • Iced cappuccino-single or double serving of expresso poured over crushed ice and topped with an ounce or two of cold milk
Relax, sit down and enjoy your coffee like you enjoy your life......one small sip at a time....

For The Love Of Love

For The Love of Love!

For The Love Of Love digital artwork by Jean Hart
 Haiku for you today.
For The Love Of Love

Love at it's fullest,
Heart laughter at it's loudest,
Warm soft and gentle.

When the day begins, I often begin my journal with a list of things I would like to accomplish for the day......It gets longer as the day progresses and I do not cross off as much as I would like. But I try to put something on my list that has something to do with the people I love.
I would say that it's important to put on your to do list, "Put people first".
Say you care, tell someone they matter, and make sure to tell the people you love you love them.
I plan on writing letters to my family and putting them in my sock drawers so when the day comes that my children come to clean out my home......they will find these letters and know my inner ward thoughts and feelings.

Out of the chaos

I'm sure that out of the chaos the love will come shining through.

Let It Be ....experience the change

Let It Be...acrylic monoprint, Jean Hart Artwork
Let it Be..Let the people in and let life be.
Let it happen...Let it go..
Just learn to let it be.
Breathe in.. breathe out, Let it Go. Let it be.
Stop thinking.....let in happen.....Stop directing....let it be.
Sometimes you have to let someone in from across the world to tell you that you are here.
You may not know you are already in the place where one has opened their home to you and provided a space so safe, so accepting and so peaceful that your response is to just Let It Be.
Does if feel foreign to you? To have such a blissful place to hang out in. Where no one wants to change you.
Just learn to Let It Be.
You have traveled far, and you have met many people, and you have had great discussions, and you have now come to a place where......You can say Let This Be My Life...Let It Be.
You've been through the widening paths of intense self-awareness. The aloneness. The over worked, over stressed, over achieved....Now put it down....Let it Be.
I have enjoyed the journey and many changes have been made. Every step was a step out of my comfort zone and I know how strong I am. There has been huge shifting of my perspective and paths have been chosen.
Let It Be...
I will leave a part of myself behind on the path not chosen but my whole self will walk happily onto the path I have picked.
I am now experiencing a sense of wholeness that makes a right choice almost to hard to articulate.
So to this new parting I say Let It Be.

I'm having a cup of coffee, come join me....
Each morning I start my day with a cup of coffee and Viva La the day begins.....
I have a collection of coffee cups from places I have been, so each morning I have a new cup of coffee with a great memory.
Friends are like that too. Some are old and have been around for awhile while others are new.
What determines a friendship?
Friends are a mystery.....I have old ones, new ones, younger ones, and much older ones. Some I see everyday and others I only send Christmas cards to. But I love them all.
Girlfriends are great to have, they understand me. Its like we have a language of our very own.  It's different from the language I have with my husband or children.
I'm Throwing a party, a coffee cup party.
show me your coffee cup and lets have some interesting conversations.

Books, Books, Books.......Share with me what you are readng******

Learning never stops....and really it should not!
Looking out at the marina today I feel like I could break into a million pieces and still not see all that the world has to offer. I read about the places I will never see and hope that I get a good book that will take me there. In the text I can feel and taste and see the places I can only dream about.
Books can do that, they give me a place where I can live, open my home to and provide a space of such adventure, safely.
Do you know of any other thing that can give you safety, acceptance and mindfulness and the excitements of the possibility for your heart to do anything but break wide open to new experiences?

With great intensity of self-awareness I invite you to read Greek Mythology.
Read it for fun or read it for the psychology.
Experience a sense of wonder.
Happy Reading

Pink Saturday....and Everyday.....Welcome
Do you ever feel like your just tense and you can't figure out why?

I don't know if it's because I feel summer is almost over and I registered for a fall college class. Or If it's just because my summer projects did not get done. But something's got me all tense today.

Tree of Life

Tree of Life

I found this really cool tree sculpture while shopping around town.
It holds candles in the votive cups.
So I thought how cool would it be if the Tree of Life held candles that represented the colors of the chakra.
So I filled them with
Cranberry red, for love and passion.
orange for strength, and success
 yellow for communication
green for healing and prosperity
blue for peace
purple for wisdom
I also added two crystal holders and filled them with black rocks to absorb the negative chi energies.

Psyche's Third Task

Aphrodite's Third Task for Psyche
In the Greek Myth of Eros and Psyche
Aphrodite tells Psyche that "she must fill a crystal goblet with water from the Styx, a river that tumbles from a high mountain, disappears into the earth, and comes back to the high mountain again." Sounds easy....but of course it's not....The stream is guarded by dangerous monsters, there is no place to secure your feet...A Crystal goblet of river water!!!
Back to modern day, and just as it happens, just this last week when I went to visit my Mom, she gave me a CRYSTAL GLASS!!!!!
Oh how I love the Universe!!! Now what can I put into this "crystal goblet"? The River is not just a river you know? Oh No No, its the river of "Life and Death" it flows fast and treacherous, its banks are dangers and lets not for get the big mean monsters!!!
This task is telling us how we Women must relate to the vastness of life....One glass, one task, one thing at a time. Forget multitasking. She must do one thing and do it WELL.
Do all that you want to do, just remember you can really only do one thing at a time.
Did you know crystal is very fragile and for me precious, and so is your self image and ego.
Bring this task to modern day for me......
I have my crystal goblet. And so I will fill it with my diet shake!!!! My "Water of Life" to accomplish my "one task at a time" health issues. Because this drink is not easy to come by, it's expensive, it's full of mind traps, sometimes I would rather have a bagel, and we know what a slipper slop they are. I want to be around for years to come ( vastness of life), I know that it will take one shake at a time to accomplish this task.

Psyche's second task

Aphrodite's second task for Psyche
Wool and charms for my prayer scarf
Psyche's second task according to Aphrodite "is to go to a certain field across the river and gather some of the golden fleece of the rams pastured there"
Okay!! While I am reading this I am thinking how will I do this task in modern day time. Mentioning the words "Fleece and Ram" brought to mind wool and yarn and Knitting.  Rams would be the symbol of masculine qualities in a women. In my book, "She" , (I quote this so I get it right.) "Masculinity often looks ram-like to a woman when it comes time for her to assimilate little of that quality into her interior life" . ..
In my task I have taken the "wool" of the Ram, and decided to make a scarf. A scarf that will have symbols of charm knitted into it. I know that we women must make our own way in life, but I also know we do not do it alone.
So as I knit this scarf I will give blessings to both Men and Women in my life. I will ask for help and honor all that the Universe wishes to give me.
I like things to be personal, real and rational.
The mythology in this tasks really asks a bigger question of life. Being feminine and wanting to be independent in thought, the question really is. "How much masculine energy is enough within myself to keep me strong but also be able to use my feminine energy equally?
I look forward to the meditation of this task as I ask myself some hard questions.

Pink Saturday

Pink Saturday!!

I am reading the Greek mythology of Eros and Psyche. I am really enjoying this story. I thought it would be fun to go through the tasks that Aphrodite sets for Psyche. They are not easy tasks...The first one being; sort and make order and form out of chaos. So I set out to put a list of things I felt were in chaos in my life. Next I explained what their worth were to me and how I was going to complete the unlived life of these ideas.
Huge Task....This will take some time.
It's something kin to a life examined.....Best done alone and with a glass of sherry!!
this is a statue that I am thinking of buying to keep me inspired to continue my love of Greek Mythology.

I love summer time. It's when I get to read anything I like. No text books for me during the summer months.
I found this little gem at the doctors office. There was this cart of books for sale to benefit diabetes. I got it for .25cents!!! Can't bet that.

Happy pink Saturday!!! Sunday and Everyday!!
I would like to introduce you to my Mom. Luella Mees. She has been staying with me for a couple of weeks.
She flew into Salt Lake City from California where she lives. Its been lots of fun having her spend some time with me and my family.
While she was her it was Matthew's Birthday and she made some Birthday Cookies for him.
Yummy!! Chocolate chip, oatmeal, coconut!!! Its a favorite around my house.
She is 87 years old and gets around very well. Mostly we are spending our time cooking. It seems to take up a lot of our day. She only makes food from scratch nothing from a box.
Really life is much slower and simpler. I like it. I use to think Simple meant Dull, unexciting. Maybe I thought life itself should be more INTENSE, INFLATED, OR URGENT!!!  I'm learning that simple, slow and planned is nice.
So here's to a good life, good people and  a simpler way of life.

Happy Pink Saturday and 4th of July 2011

Happy Pink Saturday!!
Happy 4th of July.....So much to be thankful for living in the USA.
To be grateful for the freedoms we have. Please take time to say a little prayer for our troops overseas and for the ones who are away from home and family.

Make a wish for all the people you love and for the people who love you. It takes courage to live each day to the fullest. We all could use alittle help now and then.
Do What you can to take care of the world. Everything matters.
Love each other and understand meeting in the middle means there will be compromises.

Learn to love and trust, Give your love freely without conditions. It's really the only way.
Celebrate your life, live well and love honestly.

Tuesdays Artist Message

Tuesday's Message.

Making the Commitment.
Good Morning Artists,
My advice and I do not normally give advice, but here it is.
Go Slow....Take on only what you feel comfortable with.
Remember too that each of us are at a different level of skills so stop comparing yourself to others.
I am self taught with just a few art classes. My first exhibit into the public arena was the County Fair in my little town. Judged and out there for all to see. I registered as a armature but after two years and because I sold a few paintings they said I was now a professional!!!!
I have learned in the last ten years that there is really no one way to become a professional. Every artist finds their own way.
It's really up to you how you want to be seen as an artist. Hobbyist, armature, professional. Just decide if becoming an artist will add the beauty and excitement and quality to your life you image being an artist will do. In reality its a lot of hard work. Once the decision is made, Make the Commitment. Take a few classes, workshop, read art books and watch movies. But then.....Pick one of the exhibits Gilbert has offered you to show your work. Don't be afraid to let people see your work. All so don't be afraid to have it critiqued or judged. (This is where the real growth happens).
Establish Goals, National Fame does not come to us overnight, nor should it. Be realistic, maybe say This is the year I enter one contest. One exhibit. Or try to join in and be accepted to the American Watercolor Society Show. Goals are only there to help you stay focused and under no account do they measure you as an artist. Only you can do that.

Artists Question

Wednesday Question
???????????????????
I am getting ready for an exhibit and reception on June 4h.
I was only given 2 weeks to pull it together.....Any sane person would have said no. But, I'm an artist and I want my artwork to be seen.
Today's Question is;
Do you paint for yourself or do you paint to have your artwork seen? Not really talking about selling here.
I like to do exhibits, so people can see my style. This way they will know if I'm the artist they want to paint that special painting they have in mind.
So this week think about your home town, is there anywhere you might be able to hang your work? Get creative here, coffee shops, hotel, offices.....I'm in a Donut Shop!!!! These are not the Big Gallery Museum Shows. This is to reach the public and build a following.
Be inspired, Be Creative,
If you would like to know more about me I invite you to my website,
